Spring Picnic Delivers Bags of Green, Forest of Trees
Tue, 06/04/2013

Bette Midler’s New York Restoration Project celebrated its 18th Anniversary and hosted its annual Spring Picnic at Gracie Mansion where generous guests donated $1.2 million dollars to continue the organization’s mission to revitalize city green spaces.

Green-loving guests included Parker Posey Michael Kors, Bernadette Peters, Tim Gunn and Mayor Michael Bloomberg, who summoned a stunning $100,000 in spontaneous donations from the crowd in under two minutes.

The annual picnic didn’t just raise critical funds – officials there also announced that the MillionTreesNYC tree-planting partnership between NYRP and NYC Parks is a full two years ahead of schedule; the remaining 250,000 trees are expected to be planted by 2015.
